With the Q2 update, PAVE continues to evolve, making digital collaboration even simpler and more efficient. At the heart of this release are the new Webviewer for seamless document based collaboration, a more intuitive user management experience, and practical enhancements to the BIM module. These new features improve transparency, streamline workflows, and help project teams share information more efficiently and collaborate with greater ease.
The New Webviewer: Collaborate Directly on Your Documents
The new Webviewer allows you to view and edit PDF files and various image formats directly within PAVE. Annotations are saved automatically and are instantly available to all authorized project participants. Comments can be added directly to annotations, and existing markups can be edited at any time. This makes collaboration more transparent, more efficient, and keeps communication where it belongs: directly on the document.
Please note: The Web Viewer does not automatically replace the Easy Viewer. Customers who wish to switch from the Easy Viewer to the Webviewer in their project are kindly asked to contact their sales representative.
Clearer User Identification Across PAVE
Users will now be displayed consistently in the format “Last name, First name” throughout PAVE. This creates greater clarity across the system and makes it easier to identify and find people, especially in projects with many participants. For audit relevant processes, the unique user ID will, of course, continue to be used.
Future Ready User Management Behind the Scenes
PAVE has also been enhanced behind the scenes. Internal email address processing is now based on a unique user ID, providing a solid foundation for future developments. For users, nothing changes: names will continue to be displayed as usual, and existing internal email addresses will remain valid during the transition period.

Since February 2023, PAVE has officially been part of the Pro4all Group – a growing group of companies with a clear vision: to build an integrated platform ecosystem for the entire construction industry. For our customers, this is first and foremost good news. What changes is the strength behind us. What stays the same is everything you rely on.
What Is the Pro4all Group?
Pro4all pursues a strategy that is still rarely implemented consistently in the construction industry: rather than selling standalone solutions, it is building a platform ecosystem for the construction industry. This means specialized software products that are best-in-class in their respective areas come together under one roof.
PAVE is positioned in this platform ecosystem exactly where it has always had its strengths: digital project and data management for construction projects. As a Common Data Environment (CDE), PAVE serves as the central information hub for developers, planners, project managers and all other project stakeholders – from document and drawing management to BIM and workflows, construction documentation, cost controlling, and ESG documentation.
What Does Not Change for PAVE Customers
This is the question that deserves to be asked first. The clear answer: PAVE remains software made and hosted in Germany. Our data centres are located in Germany. This will not change as a result of joining the Pro4all Group – not today and not in the future. For customers working on sensitive projects who place value on data sovereignty, this is not a given – which is exactly why we state it as a clear commitment.
The security standards also remain at the same highest level:

Digital project platforms need to do more than simply manage documents. They should facilitate collaboration, ensure transparency, and remain flexible as project requirements evolve.
With the upcoming PAVE release, we’re taking another step in that direction. Three key enhancements will make collaboration more intuitive, provide a consistent user experience, and lay the technical foundation for future developments—all without requiring any action from our customers.
Seamless Collaboration with the New Web Viewer
The new Web Viewer introduces a modern way to view and work with project documents. It replaces the previous Easy Viewer full version with annotations and supports both PDF files and various image formats. The Web Viewer is included in the Advanced Viewer package.
The most significant improvement, however, lies in the way teams collaborate.
Previously, annotations had to be created first and then shared by creating a new version of the document. This additional step was often perceived as inconvenient.
With the new Web Viewer, annotations are saved instantly and become immediately available to all authorized project participants. Information such as the author and the time of creation is, of course, retained.
In addition, users can now add comments and reply directly within annotations. Users are also able to edit and update their own annotations at any time.
The result is a much more modern, document-based communication process: discussions take place directly within the document, valuable information is preserved, and collaboration becomes more transparent and efficient.
Please note: The Web Viewer does not automatically replace the Easy Viewer. Customers who wish to switch from the Easy Viewer to the Webviewer in their project are kindly asked to contact their sales representative.
Consistent User Names for Better Clarity
User names will now be displayed consistently throughout the platform.
Going forward, users will appear in the format “Last Name, First Name.” Previously, login names such as Firstname.Lastname.ProjectGroup were displayed in various areas of the application. This technical naming convention often caused confusion, particularly after name changes or when project-specific abbreviations were included in login names.
The new display format is based on the user’s actual profile information, creating a cleaner, more professional, and consistent experience across PAVE.
For audit-relevant processes, nothing changes. The unique numerical user ID will continue to be used wherever required, ensuring full traceability and compliance.
Future-Proof User Management Behind the Scenes
As part of these improvements, the way internal email addresses are generated is also being updated.
Previously, internal email addresses were based on the user’s login name and project information. Going forward, they will be generated using a unique numerical user ID. This approach is common in many enterprise software solutions and provides the flexibility needed for future enhancements to user management.
For end users, this change will have virtually no impact.
Internal email addresses are only used for emails received from outside PAVE. In Outlook—and, where supported, in other email clients—the recipient will continue to see the user’s display name. Within PAVE itself, the user will still appear as the sender.
Existing internal email addresses will remain valid during a transition period. Replies sent to previously issued addresses will continue to be forwarded automatically to the correct recipient.
No Action Required
All of these enhancements will be delivered automatically with the upcoming PAVE release. Existing workflows can continue without interruption.
With the new Web Viewer, collaboration takes place directly within the document, making communication faster, easier, and more transparent. At the same time, the standardized user display and the technical improvements behind the scenes ensure that PAVE remains flexible, reliable, and ready for future developments.
Our goal remains unchanged: to make digital collaboration easier, so project teams can focus on what matters most.
Q1 2026 brought one thing above all: fewer interruptions to the workflow. Several areas were addressed to make content easier to reuse and to make information available exactly where it’s needed. Drafts can be continued directly, viewpoints become part of ongoing communication, issues are centrally visible in the BIM Viewer, and model-based checking with Solibri is now directly integrated into this context. Additionally, new fields in the BCF dialog provide more structure.
Workflows that build on each other
The latest updates in PAVE address exactly the points where work often restarts unnecessarily. Content can be adopted directly, visual information remains part of communication, and issues are centrally available in the BIM Viewer.
With the Solibri integration, model-based checking is more closely tied to project work. Review states and issues remain consistent and traceable without having to manage information separately. At the same time, the underlying structure becomes clearer: new fields in the BCF dialog help organize content more precisely and make it more quickly accessible. The result is a working environment where information is reliably brought together.
Drafts in the communication module rethought
A draft becomes a reliable template. Content is preserved, can be adjusted as needed, and reused directly. Especially for recurring coordination tasks, this creates a continuous workflow. Instead of rebuilding content from scratch, existing work is carried forward. This saves time, reduces potential errors, and ensures consistent communication throughout the project. The updated timestamp keeps every version clearly traceable.
Embedding viewpoints directly into communication
Visual perspectives from issues can be added directly to comments. Relevant views are available exactly where they are needed for coordination. This brings context into communication without requiring additional references or explanations. Content is understood faster, follow-up questions are reduced, and coordination becomes significantly clearer.

2025 was a pivotal year for PAVE. A particularly important milestone was the successful ISO 27001 recertification, confirming that our company’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) continues to meet international standards – an essential quality indicator for our customers and partners.
Another significant event was the release of version V.5.100: With this update, PAVE reached a symbolic milestone – 100 iterations of the Modern GUI since its introduction. The permission matrix clearly highlights deleted users and remains available even in archived projects, ensuring permissions are always transparent and traceable – including for handovers and audits.
For structural changes, extended admin functions allow files and folders to be reassigned or fully deleted, including all subfolders and links. An improved cancel function also provides greater security and control during large-scale actions.

A step with new requirements
In September, our information security management system was assessed for the first time under the updated 2022 version of ISO 27001. The external audit was intensive, comprehensive, and accompanied by high expectations. Its goal was to evaluate how we embed security in our daily work and whether our processes meet the new, enhanced criteria. The feedback was clear: the auditors confirmed our high security level and recommended our recertification according to ISO 27001. Shortly thereafter, we received the official confirmation from DEKRA.
This renewed certification shows that information security for us is not a static system. It is a living process that we continuously refine. Our risk management, documentation, security trainings, and the technical design of our operations received particularly positive feedback during the audit. The integration of modern digital work tools such as Jira and Confluence also supports our security culture and strengthens the transparency and traceability of our processes.

It shows that all information they entrust to us is processed in an environment that is assessed according to internationally recognized standards and regularly re-evaluated. With our release in calendar week 31, we are reaching a symbolic milestone – a moment to briefly look back together on the past eight years and thank our customers, users, and partners. One hundred iterations of our “Modern GUI”!
Over the years, our product has undergone several major changes and countless smaller ones – both technically and functionally. It all started with our main version 1.0 as a pure online file repository for digitized documents.
The journey continued about eight years ago with version 3.0, marking the launch of our “Modern” interface, which was also built on a completely new technological foundation. This version already featured a comprehensive project space with numerous collaboration and communication tools, replacing the outdated “Classic” interface.
Over the last one hundred update cycles, the product evolved across two major versions – from pink eProjectCare to PAVE – into a state-of-the-art CDE at the core of a construction project’s application landscape. In addition to expanding our own functionality, it became increasingly important to offer easy and standardized integration options for third-party specialist applications through open interfaces.
We cannot emphasize enough that we achieved all of this only with your support. Your user feedback, feature requests, and bug reports helped us improve and expand PAVE with every update, and guided us in the right direction.

The PAVE BIM and Workflows Modules also see major improvements. The fully implemented openCDE integration enables standardized, cross-platform data exchange without the need for custom interfaces. This is complemented by a new Revit plugin, allowing direct model uploads and issue management from within Revit. Additionally, BIM models can now be viewed and edited directly within workflow steps – including new filter options for labels and project stages. These updates further enhance BIM process integration and ensure more structure and efficiency in planning and collaboration.

Thanks to the interface developed by buildingSMART, information can now be exchanged smoothly between different CDE systems and BIM tools – without the need for custom solutions.
