Digital project platforms need to do more than simply manage documents. They should facilitate collaboration, ensure transparency, and remain flexible as project requirements evolve.
With the upcoming PAVE release, we’re taking another step in that direction. Three key enhancements will make collaboration more intuitive, provide a consistent user experience, and lay the technical foundation for future developments—all without requiring any action from our customers.

The new Web Viewer introduces a modern way to view and work with project documents. It replaces the previous Easy Viewer full version with annotations and supports both PDF files and various image formats. The Web Viewer is included in the Advanced Viewer package.
The most significant improvement, however, lies in the way teams collaborate.
Previously, annotations had to be created first and then shared by creating a new version of the document. This additional step was often perceived as inconvenient.
With the new Web Viewer, annotations are saved instantly and become immediately available to all authorized project participants. Information such as the author and the time of creation is, of course, retained.
In addition, users can now add comments and reply directly within annotations. Users are also able to edit and update their own annotations at any time.
The result is a much more modern, document-based communication process: discussions take place directly within the document, valuable information is preserved, and collaboration becomes more transparent and efficient.
Please note: The Web Viewer does not automatically replace the Easy Viewer. Customers who wish to switch from the Easy Viewer to the Webviewer in their project are kindly asked to contact their sales representative.
User names will now be displayed consistently throughout the platform.
Going forward, users will appear in the format “Last Name, First Name.” Previously, login names such as Firstname.Lastname.ProjectGroup were displayed in various areas of the application. This technical naming convention often caused confusion, particularly after name changes or when project-specific abbreviations were included in login names.
The new display format is based on the user’s actual profile information, creating a cleaner, more professional, and consistent experience across PAVE.
For audit-relevant processes, nothing changes. The unique numerical user ID will continue to be used wherever required, ensuring full traceability and compliance.
As part of these improvements, the way internal email addresses are generated is also being updated.
Previously, internal email addresses were based on the user’s login name and project information. Going forward, they will be generated using a unique numerical user ID. This approach is common in many enterprise software solutions and provides the flexibility needed for future enhancements to user management.
For end users, this change will have virtually no impact.
Internal email addresses are only used for emails received from outside PAVE. In Outlook—and, where supported, in other email clients—the recipient will continue to see the user’s display name. Within PAVE itself, the user will still appear as the sender.
Existing internal email addresses will remain valid during a transition period. Replies sent to previously issued addresses will continue to be forwarded automatically to the correct recipient.
All of these enhancements will be delivered automatically with the upcoming PAVE release. Existing workflows can continue without interruption.
With the new Web Viewer, collaboration takes place directly within the document, making communication faster, easier, and more transparent. At the same time, the standardized user display and the technical improvements behind the scenes ensure that PAVE remains flexible, reliable, and ready for future developments.
