The project

With the Werksviertel-Mitte, a creative urban quarter is emerging in Munich that is constantly changing. Life, work, entertainment, art and culture merge into a unique urban togetherness in the east of Munich. The Werksviertel-Mitte offers space for great architecture as well as digital, creative and artistic innovations. Every day a lively urban culture unfolds in the quarter, which can be actively shaped and experienced over and over again. Under the motto “the diversity of the special”, those responsible at the Werksviertel-Mitte have made it their business to implement this diversity in all aspects. This extends to all areas of life that are important to create a place that offers something around the clock for all ages and budgets.

WERK12 was awarded the star of architecture from the evening newspaper and the DAM Prize 2021 (German Architecture Museum).

Werk12

WERK12 impresses with its open design and architecture, which is inspired by the Dutch pavilion, which was designed by the MVRDV architectural office (Rotterdam).

It conveys a feeling of freedom: cascading stairs, glass facades, double the room height and the surrounding balconies with a depth of over 3 meters.

Other special features are the external access, the flexible gallery architecture with inserted cubes and the sun protection, which is also attached outside.

With tenants such as body + soul, GinCity, Audi and other companies, a colorful mix of gastronomy, adventure and business is ensured here too. The building has been in operation since May 2019.
